    1. The story follows Matt, a young boy living in a post zombie world and the antics that happens after his pet hamster dies and turns into a zombie This book is great for kids that want to get in on the ever popular zombie action The story is interesting, creative and humorous This is a great alternative for children who are perhaps a little too young for The Walking Dead.Note I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

    2. My Zombie Hamster is well, it s pretty much exactly what it says on the box There s this hamster, you see And he s a zombie Naturally, there s to it Let s start with the official synopsis Matt Hunter and his buddies are looking forward to Christmas actually, they re looking forward to receiving the latest sword and fantasy video game But Matt s parents have other thoughts they give him a fluffy little mammal, a hamster called Snuffles, for the holiday And his grandmother makes it worse by givin [...]

    3. 4.5 StarsThis book is seriously adorable I was chuckling the entire time I read this one I loved the author s style of humor, it was so witty, and he has a knack for making every day observances so funny The author sets up a world where zombies live with humans that is believable and easy to understand The characters are great as well, but I think the real stand out element of this book is the humor.Matt is a great lead, he s a real kid who most young readers should be able to relate to I love h [...]

    4. Provided by the publisher via NetGalleyThis one was a nice, fun and quick read It was about Matt s adventure in a zombie infested world It all started when his pet hamster, Snuffles, became a zombie hamster As the blurb started, it did remind me a lot of R.L Stine books.I liked the humor Matt and his friends were very fun and I enjoyed their quest involving the capture of the deadbeat Snuffles, aka Anti Snuffles However, there should have been scenes featuring the hamster It felt like it was ma [...]

    5. 6. Four Books in One, All GoodThis really is a great example of how you can mash four different middle grade genres together and come up with a funny, exciting and very appealing book This is a family foibles book, an alternate world book, a zombie book, and an adventures of a gang of four knuckleheads book. The family foibles are along the lines of the Wimpy Kid pattern Mom and Dad are unique and distinct personalities and a lot of the narrative is built on our kid hero s bemused but affectionate r [...]

    7. Now the first thing I hear you all say and do is probably this OMG a hamster Sooo cute 3 3 I want to hug and hold and love it 3 3 squeee DON T This little dear is actually plotting to take over the world, one critter, one pet at a time, only to go to bigger things after that Believe me, I have experienced it, and I am here to warn you for these little overlords of doom and despair.Ah, I hear you are laughing, I hear you saying I probably conked my head on something heavy Go on and laugh, laugh a [...]

    9. My Zombie Hamster is a very clever story of a young boy who lives in a town that is not only overtaken by zombies, but by animal zombies as well, led by his late hamster, Snuffles, or Anti Snuffles a pet he never wanted in the first place, but received from his often clueless parents for Christmas Young readers will enjoy the adventures of Matt and his friends as they try to outwit the animal zombies, while protecting themselves from the formerly human zombies at the same time When Matt s friend [...]

    10. Matt lives in a world exactly like ours, with cell phones and YouTube and school and cars, except that Matt s world is full of zombies All towns are behind massive walls to protect residents When Matt gets a hamster for Christmas instead of the gaming console he wanted, it quickly dies, becomes a zombie, escapes, and Matt is sure it s building a zombified animal army to attack the town He enlists the help of his friends Charlie a girl , Calvin, and Aren a boy , but soon they re all too busy with [...]

    11. All Matt wants for Christmas is a Runesword so he can play the game with his friends online What he gets is a hamster named Snuffles Then Snuffles dies and turns into a zombie hamster Snuffles escapes outside and starts building his zombie pet army, turning all the pets and animals in town into zombies Of course there are people who are zombies also, but they are all outside of the town walls Matt and his friends Charlie, Calvin and Aren devise several plans to stop Snuffles before he is discove [...]

    12. All Matt wanted for Christmas was a Runesword, a fancy video game controller like his friends Charlie, Calvin, and Aren were likely to get Instead, he got a hamster A hamster that did nothing but eat and sleep and before too long turn into a necrotized slavering quadruped zombie mastermind.Matt and his friends live in the walled town of Edenvale Zombies prowl the woods on the other side of the wall, while inside, citizens and pets are implanted with lifechips that inform the Zombie Squad the mom [...]

    13. ARC provided by NetGalley This children s young adult story takes place in the near future where zombies have taken over the world and civilization has been moved behind the safety of high walls All is well until young Matt asks for a video game for Christmas but instead is givena hamster Not so bad, you re probably thinking It s not, until the hamster dies and turns into a zombie Little Snuffles, or Anti Snuffles as he s now known, manages to escape and seems to be on a mission to turn every an [...]

    14. I received this book via a First Reads book giveaway and I thought it was very cute, funny and exciting Perfect for new and reluctant readers, especially young boys My six year old nephew is currently reading it and enjoying it and asked for a copy of this book to take and, in his own words Read over and over at home , so I told him he could have this one We, my boyfriend and his sister and my sister, have been trying to encourage our nephews and niece to be interested in reading or being read [...]

    15. I won a free copy of this book through a GoodReads giveaway. It s a fun and breezy early middle grades book Despite being themed around zombies, it is very un gory and un gritty, with some nice themes around friendship The precocious narrator is a fun little boy with a strong sense of how the interpersonal dynamics work around him, and is, unlike many books for this age group, blessed with parents who are present and engaged in his life, even if they don t know all the hijinks he and his friends [...]

    16. Somewhat surprisingly entertaining MG read about a zombie apocalypse future In the highly protected town of Edenvale, one unregistered pet hamster dies and reanimates back into a zombie The zombie hamster escapes and begins turning of the town s pets The beginning is a bit rough, but a few pages in the author finds his stride and you get sucked into the story The writing is snarky and funny with great pop culture references. This would be a great book for middle graders who want zombie stories b [...]

    17. This book is a great way to introduce younger kids to the Zombie apocalypse in a silly and entertaining way The story is cute and has a lot of laugh out loud moments when kids and parents a like will get a thrill from the zany happenings I enjoyed reading this book with my kids and encourage other parents to check it out This is one of the most creative books I have seen in a while and my boys loved guessing what was going to happen next The story is easy enough for a child just beginning to rea [...]

    18. I read an advance reader s copy via netgalley to my 7 and 9 year old boys They very much enjoyed it and await the sequel It was hard to stop reading since they wanted to know what comes next The book itself is engaging enough but depends too much on pop culture references, so tends occasionally to trip up those who haven t been utterly immersed in a specific genre of films It will be somewhat opaque to immigrants etc I trust the final kindle edition will be better formatted than the galley.

    19. Matt Hunter s town Edenvale is a walled town which is supposed to keep humans in and zombies out Matt and his friends, Charlie, Calvin, and Aren, are looking forward to receiving a video game for Christmas, but instead Matt receives a diabolical hamster Snuffles , who dies and returns as a hamster zombie Pets go missing and Matt sees hints that his pet hamster, now Anti Snuffles , is involved The human characters are likeable and the story is not as scary or as suspenseful as a Stine Give this t [...]

    20. Matt s only request for Christmas was the hottest new sword and fantasy video game Runesword that would let him play Runespell without the control pad Unfortunately, his parents thought a hamster would be a better choice It wasn t Nobody step on a twig, whispered Dallas.Just as he said this, Calvin stepped on a huge stick The crack echoed around the forest like a fart in a church. This was a hilarious book I thought it was funny and laughed out loud many times.

    21. For a dumb kid book that my son asked me to preview for him, it was actually quite good The story was actually believable, given the premise there was sufficient action, but nothing overly complicated and the writing flowed smoothly, with quite a bit of humor I d definitely recommend it, although maybe not for most adults

    22. Decided to read it over dinner on the Kindle Fire I borrowed from the local library If the staff at Denny s didn t think I was a bit odd before Couldn t help but laugh out loud a few times while my quesadilla waited patiently on the plate And I never ignore food placed in front of me

    23. This book was pretty much hilarious I really loved that it didn t take itself too seriously like some other zombie books do I think the best part of the book was Matt s humor throughout, especially when self deprecating I love his father s story list It always told us what was going to happen without any specifics This was definitely a great satire piece.

    24. This is a quick read It s clearly geared at a younger audience, but I think it would also work well for reluctant readers who are a bit older It s very silly, and has nice short chapters However, for a zombie story it s the opposite of gory and violent It s on the ridiculous and light side Definitely a good choice for middle school book talks though.

    25. This was a very hilarious and fun read.It s nice to read something different in a while.I enjoyed the storyline having a zombie hamster definitely made it interesting.I recommend this book for all ages.

    26. A funny middle grade novel about a pet becoming a zombie Reminded me of BUNNICULA by James Howe in tone and humor Lots of movie references that are funny now but may be dated in a few years High kid appeal.

    27. lots of kid appeal, especially for boys, in this short MG novel about a zombie hamster gone rogue little undead squeak of triumph Nods to Star Wars original 3 bias and Toy Story movies, lots of laughs, and havoc wrought by both humans and undead pets

    28. I am secretly a 12 year old boy because I LOVED this I was practically laughing until I cried Matt is such a funny, snarky little punk, I love it Plus, I loved how it was a softer zombie world, unlike Walking Dead I m still telling people about this one and I DID Booktalk it.

    29. Not enough zombie gore or violence for middle school Definitely take a look at this for younger students It is possible that I need to read things that are not middle grade to prevent me from completely becoming a 12 year old boy in my reading preferences.

    30. I won this book in a contest I liked this book I thought that the story was fun and characters were good Although it was a little young for me I think that children in the age group that this book is aimed at will like it a lot
